What HAZWOPER Techs are trained in is how to safely conduct your job in and around hazardous environments and materials.

Can you get a job based on just having the HAZWOPER? I use to think not. But you actually can and I recommend getting your 40 Hour as it will certainly open some doors.

The HAZWOPER certification means that you've been trained to recognize and how to respond to hazardous situations. Not that your job is to clean up the situation but that you have an awareness of the what's happening or could happen around you.

I had a friend of mine take the 40 Hour HAZWOPER (thru us of course) and search for HAZWOPER jobs in his area.

He saw a company that was hiring within several miles of his house and decided to call rather than fill out their online application form.

They were actually surprised that he already had the certification. Most employers have to hire someone hoping they can pass the class! This is a huge "roll the dice" way of hiring.

He shows up for his interview the next morning and is given the job. He know has a great pay check but also health and dental insurance for him and his family, a 401k retirement plan where they're matching contributions, etc.
