Definition of HAZCOM
by: SGC Group

HAZCOM is found in 29 CFR 1910.1200 and is known as the "Right to Know" regulation.

HAZCOM is meant to address the issue of evaluating the potential hazards of chemicals.

Part of HAZCOM is maintaining MSDS or Material Safety Data Sheets, providing a written hazardous chemical training program and labeling for chemicals that are hazardous.

The manufacturer of hazardous chemicals are responsible for supplying companies with the appropriate MSDS records and those companies are then responsible for making the MSDS available to all employees working around the hazardous chemicals.

HAZCOM does not provide the methods for removing hazardous waste.
